See ya later, 2010! Hello 2011!

(How many of these have you seen the last few days?  Sorry, but get ready for one more.)

Summary of 2010

  • January 26: C's pretty and precocious niece Gabby is born
  • Spring: C searches and eventually finds a house he likes (actually several, but it was the 4th one that the offer got agreed to... mostly)
  • May 5th(ish): seller of the house agrees to meet the bank appraisal price, meaning we can go ahead with closing and actually get the house
  • May 6(ish): C gets laid off.  That was a fun, expectation filled 12 hours. Awesome.
  • June 25: my newest niece Britta is born
  • July: C decides that since there are no jobs available in the area, instead of renewing a lease he might have to break, he's going to move in with his parents until he finds a job.  I decide to go with him.
  • August 16: C officially moves out of the apartment and to Ohio
  • September 4: I move to Ohio, moving out of my parents house for the first real time, not including moving to college.
  • September 19: C and I celebrate 2 years together.  I get an interview for the portrait studio.
  • Autumn:  C and I settle into Ohio, learning our way around, finding shortcuts, trying to find spots for all of our stuff in our room.

As of now, we haven't had any luck with C getting a job.  I'm still privately grieving for our house and our plans, which had included getting married in September. (I had been thinking and hoping privately, and found out later that C was having the same train of thought.)   It has been a challenging year to say the least.  2011 can only bring better things to us.

However things go from here, I know that we will get through it all together. As frustrating as it may be, I know that I will have my helpmate and partner with me.  For that I am ridiculously grateful.

I have a few resolutions, of course:
  • lose enough weight that I can fit back into my jeans and pretty dresses
  • spend more time taking photographs just to take photographs; work on bettering my photography
  • get our room much more organized and less cluttered (and keep it that way!)
I'd say I'd resolve to get on here more often but that hasn't worked before.  I'm actually pretty proud that I haven't just given up on this like I've given up on a dozen other 'journaling' attempts.  I'd like to eventually have some posts that aren't just about how sad my life is but is actually about some topic... maybe I'll try to do something with the photography or knitting... but I don't want to turn into yet another craft blog, either.  I'll have to see how it goes, I guess.

I hope 2011 brings you nothing but wonderful things.  :-)
