I really wish I had a routine. I don't yet. Some days we're sleeping in until 10:30 or 11, which is nice but then screws up the whole rest of the day. Others we have to be up and out by 8, for any of various reasons.
Next week, though, I'll have a bit of a routine. Tuesday I start training for a potential position- with a Lifetouch portrait studio in a JCPenney. They do the training class before definitively offering a position because some people just don't get the hang of it, apparently. When I interviewed, the manager told me that the last training class had a lady walk out during the computer training because the sound of a fussy baby had given her a migraine in the ten minutes she'd been there. Um, if you can't stand the sounds of fussy children, why would you apply for a position in a portrait studio? Where most of the portraits are of children? Anyway, I'm really excited, since I love photography and feel like this could be a first step towards working in the field, whether for a larger company or as starting my own. I feel really confident that I'll do well in the training, and have even begun a good rapport with the manager who interviewed me.
The best part of next week is the end- Columbus Day weekend my parents are coming to visit! I really miss them. I miss my puppies even more, but we couldn't find a day care for them that is open on the weekends (so that they wouldn't tear apart C's parents' house, but we could take them with us if we go to a nature preserve or something similar). So they're going to stay at their day care at home. They love it there, so they'll be happy. But I miss my pretty puppies. :(
Think About it Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by Rachel at 1001 Books. Each week she'll ask a reading related questions and challenges us to 'think about it'. This week's questions is:
Tell us about your usual reading environment. Big cozy chair? Out in the yard? On the bus? Complete quiet or ambient noise? Where do you do most of your reading?
I read anywhere I can. In the car, although depending who is driving I can occasionally get slightly motion sick. Before I moved I read everyday on the train, which ended up being my only reading time some weeks. I've actually only done a little reading since I've been here in Ohio, and most of it has been done on our bed. I haven't found a comfy chair for reading yet, but I'm thinking it might be C's recliner and that we'll end up competing for recliner time. There can be noise or not, doesn't bother me!
Where do you read?

There you are! I was wondering where you had been the last few weeks. I know it's hard getting adjusted. When we moved to CA from PA the first month I was unemployeed and it really started eating at me, thank fully we couldn't afford much food so I didn't pack on the pounds. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you participated in Think About It Thursday. I've neve taken a trian but I'm sure I would be too distracted to read. I always drive (I drove 80% of the trip from east to west coast) so I can't read in the car either. You need to get yourself a comfy chair and post about it when you do!
It was nice reading from you again and I look forward to more.
Hello Maggie and welcome to Think About It Thursday! Don't know if this is your first time, but it's the first time I've seen you link up with us and I just wanted to say hello. I'd fight for that recliner for sure...DH and I have always had our own recliners and since moving to our new "Love Shack" we downsized to a dual reclining loveseat...just couldn't live without it. Don't care how many hairs it raises for all those designers...lol Funny, I use to get car sick when we had a van and if I sat in the back seat...have to sit in the front for sure. My youngest son has the same affliction...it's the motion from the wheel base I guess...who knows. Hope you have a wonderful weekend and stop by and visit anytime. Fondly, Roberta

Thanks for participating this week!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I wish I could take public transportation just so I could squeeze some reading in on those days that are crazy busy. Of course, I don't have a job so I guess that's a moot point at the moment.
Glad you're back. :)
ReplyDeleteI read mostly at home. I curl up on the couch, get a throw and get to reading. Sometimes, I'll play some music in the background but most times, it's just quiet in the house.
